Javelina PassThru

Junior
Crossing the Wash
They are almost blind as a species and totally rely on smell to identify their own family and to remember others. When they meet new ‘friends’ they rub their whole bodies alongside each other to transfer scents., ( It is called Scent Marking)
I am not allowed to feed them and so I don’t. But I know they would all come indoors if I let them. They know who I am and know am friendly. One year an elder was very ill, and collapsed in the heat . Shaded under the house eave,. And I gave them some water . About 30 minutes later she had gained enough strength to stand and carry on. I don’t think any of them in the family forgot that. For me , there is nothing more rewarding than helping wildlife when we can.
Opened the front door and we both froze still
